The game saw the Lions’ three match losing home streak end and Edwards said would like to see his sides exercise more control in games
On Saturday, Kevin Nisbet opened the scoring before Jack Clarke levelled from the penalty spot at The Den.
The draw broke the Lions’ three-game losing streak at home and gave them some hope after losses to Coventry City and Ipswich Town.
Edwards believes that more work needs to be done, particularly in regulating high-tempo games.
When asked if he thought the game was a good step forward for the Lions’ home form, the manager replied, “Yeah, I did.” I’d like to see us improve in terms of how we use the ball and how we can occasionally control games. Even for ourselves to rest with the ball at times because these games may be so fast-paced and we have to provide our absolute best effort when we are not looking after the ball.
“But I understand that games aren’t always like that.” It’s simply not possible to have control and high-quality possession in every Championship football match. So, when it comes to quality, isn’t always there, you need to rely on the basics and create that feeling where opposition teams wouldn’t enjoy playing here.
“And I felt for large parts of the game we showed that and it felt like a difficult place for opponents to come and we need to build on it.”
