New Millwall signing tipped for Premier League future

Millwall confirmed the signing of talisman Macauly Langstaff from Notts County last week, the London club forking out a fee believed to be around £700,000 for the player who bagged 28 goals in League Two last season.

Over the last three seasons, the 27-year-old has led his division in scoring, going from the National League North with Gateshead to the National League and finally League Two with Notts County. Although Langstaff has committed to a long-term deal at The Den, Gateshead boss Rob Elliot believes the player will become a major star in the future.

He told the Sunderland Echo about the agreement, which has benefited Gateshead financially as well: “If I’m being really honest, I think it’s just another step on his journey to the Premier League.” He’s a clever man first and foremost, and he was the center of attention everytime I visited. There was always something about him, and once he clicked, he could do whatever he pleased.

“I think Millwall did a great job, and I sincerely hope this is just another step in his career. He has advanced well with Notts County, and the strong start he received at Gateshead from Mike (Williamson) and Ian (Watson) served him well. Whether they are players we own or have borrowed on loan, we as a club are just incredibly proud of the fact that we are assisting players who are moving up to the higher levels of the game.
