Millwall head coach Edwards on decision to bring back in as starting goalkeeper:

Joe Edwards felt the time was right to bring Matija Sarkic back into Millwall’s starting line up.
The Lions stopper had been on the bench in the three previous games as he his comeback from injury was phased.
He started for the first time under head coach Edwards in the 1-0 loss at Cardiff on Saturday afternoon with Bart Bialkowski dropping to the bench.
“He’s been fit for a couple of weeks now,” said Edwards. “He’s been training well.
“I want us to have more of the ball at the back when we need to control the game and that’s certainly a strength of Matty. Definitely in terms of how we want to play – use the ball more and relieve the level of work that we had to put into the Sunderland game last week.
“I just felt it was the right time to bring him back in now before we waited longer and longer with it and having an even bigger period with him out of the team and lacking match fitness – so he came in.
“He did show composure and what he could offer in some senses when we were trying to build from the back with the ball but the obvious standout is I’m sure he’ll be disappointed with the goal.”
