Millwall head coach ‘overreact’ as form has pulled his side into’

Joe Edwards insists he will not overreact to Millwall’s run of form despite the South London club being just two points above the Championship’s relegation places after yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at Cardiff City.

QPR have won their last three games in a row while Sheffield Wednesday have also picked up back to back wins as Millwall’s lead over those sides has been cut sharply.

“It’s not a major concern at this stage and as we all know the Championship is a crazy league where things do often seem to go in streaks,” said Edwards. “I was looking at the Championship before I came to Millwall and it felt there was a clear group at the bottom of the table that in recent weeks have done nothing but pick up points. We’ve picked up very few.

“We equally know that at some point of the season when we’re out of this slump in form, even on an individual level I feel like we have a lot of players that just aren’t firing at their best, that I’ve got every belief we can put a run together to pull away from it.”I’m not going to overreact. I know we’ll have to keep together as a team because there will be a lot of noise in this game and industry, and people will be pointing out where we are in the league. All we can do is keep working, stick together, and expect that some of those teams, such as QPR, can recover of results – that at some point we’ll do that ourselves.
“But we can’t talk about it and wait for it to happen. We have to keep working and hope we turn this run around quickly.”
