Millwall set for double injury boost against Southampton
Before their matchup with the Saints on Saturday, MILLWALL will get a double injury boost with Ryan Leonard and Shaun Hutchinson back in the lineup.
The versatile Leonard has been sidelined due to a fractured bone in his knee, while center-back Hutchinson has been out since early September due to a calf issue.
Hutchinson, 32, has made just a few fewer appearances in the Championship altogether despite having played 248 games for Millwall.
Leonard, a 31-year-old Plymouth native, has missed this season’s action despite making 54 Championship appearances for Millwall over the previous two seasons.
Adam Barrett, the interim manager of the Lions, informed the South London Press that “Lenny and Hutch are back in training.” “It’s nice to have them back on a permanent basis.
“We hope that they make it through the next several days and that they can participate on Saturday.
“It is good to have them back on the team. At Watford, our bench was really youthful.
Lenny has been out for three or four weeks, while Hutchy has been absent for 2.5 months. They’re practising with us on the grass for the first several days since returning.
On Armed Forces Day at The Den, Millwall’s match against Matija Sarkic and Duncan Watmore are scheduled to be absent.
Dunc may still need a little while, but Barrett stated that if all goes according to plan, he can resume full training the next week. “It will still take a few weeks to get Matija (Sarkic).
“In terms of injuries, things are beginning to appear a little bit healthier. Having a few of the older guys returning gives us a little more formidable appearance.
