Millwall’s Zian Flemming explains his actions against Preston….

With this purple patch—which included his first Millwall hat-trick from the previous season—he has the best scoring record of any player against any club in his career.

The 25-year-old, nevertheless, maintains that his recent hot streak does not make him feel any more confident before games against Preston.

“To be honest, it’s not an exciting answer,” he said to NewsAtDen. It’s merely coincidental.

“Obviously, the people around you know that I scored quite a few goals against them prior to this game,” the player said. However, I just see it as a coincidence, therefore I play the game just like any other.

With the draw, Millwall’s skid of three straight losses across all competitions came to a stop. They are now ten points outside of the play-off spots in seventeenth place in the Championship table.

Flemming is optimistic that the Lions’ recent loan additions, Michael Obafemi from Burnley and Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham Hotspur, can help the team improve in the second half of the year.

“You can tell those guys are from a good level based on where they have played,” he remarked. Thus, yes, we’re happy to have them here and consider them to be both a quantity and a quality addition to our team.

Although it hasn’t received much attention, Flemming has been playing well lately and has contributed to four goals in Millwall’s last five games.

During the past six weeks, he has played a lot of football because Millwall has a busy schedule around the Christmas season. Flemming stated that he would be amenable to the Championship having a winter break akin to the Premier League.

Flemming remarked, “I think the Premier League does make sense.” Since I’m naturally from the Netherlands and am accustomed to winter break, I believe it would make perfect sense to have one weekend without games so that players may take a rest, go on vacation, or spend some time with their families, a few days or a week and then come back mentally and physically refreshed.

“As it is, this is how it is, and it’s also a part of English football culture, so I do kind of like it as well. However, I believe that a small, tiny winter break would be better for the players’ health.”
