For the remainder of the season, one of the Minnesota Vikings’ most important offensive players will be out of the lineup. Hopefully, that won’t continue into the upcoming season either. This past weekend, tight end T.J. Hockenson had a terrible injury. The ACL and MCL tears were revealed by the Vikings.

Fans and the media were notified by Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell about Hockenson’s injury.

“Head Coach Kevin O’Connell announced that T.J. Hockenson suffered an ACL and MCL injury that ended his season,” Minnesota wrote on their page. The injury was disclosed by the Vikings on X, the website that was once known as Twitter.

Hockenson has been one of the NFL’s most dependable targets this season. Hockenson gained 960 yards, five receiving touchdowns, and 95 receptions on 127 targets by the end of the season. Hockenson has been a very successful tight end throughout his career. Over his career, he has amassed 3,547 receiving yards, 23 receiving touchdowns, and 341 receptions.

It’s evident that Hockenson and the Vikings are in an extremely bad predicament. Even though Minnesota’s chances of making the playoffs are probably gone, they still had a chance to surprise everyone. But that eliminates a large and dependable target from the offence in the absence of Hockenson. There is only so much that Justin Jefferson can accomplish, even if that “so much” is a lot.

This is the harsh reality of the NFL, where injuries have been commonplace this season.
