As Morecambe’s manager prepares for the jam-packed schedule of games ahead, Derek Adams is ready to play in the squad game.
The Shrimps’ run of ten league and cup games in four weeks begins tomorrow at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium with their FA Cup second-round matchup with Bradford City.
Morecambe enters the match fresh off a victory over Swindon Town the previous weekend, which helped them move up the League Two standings.
Should Adams’ players pick up a fourth win in six on Saturday, they will move into round three and earn £75,000 in prize money.
The manager of the Shrimps, who will not have George Ray this weekend, stated, “We have a big month coming up.”
It’s time to employ your squad because there are a lot of games to play.
Bradford is an important game. As I’ve stated previously, the FA Cup is an excellent competition, and we hope to go to the following round.
“It helps you financially and gives you the chance to potentially get a tie against a Premier League or Championship team.”
Both Adams and Morecambe have already traveled that route.
Adams’ rule in Plymouth After a draw at Anfield in January 2017, Argyle helped them earn a replay against Liverpool.
His first stint with the Shrimps, which lasted four years, included a journey to Chelsea before to games against Swansea City the previous season and Tottenham Hotspur the following campaign.
However, success against Bradford, whom they drew 1-1 at home at the beginning of October, will determine whether they repeat.
