The forward from Barrow has been loaned to Morecambe, a SkyBet League Two team, until the end of the current campaign.
The 25-year-old first signed for the Bluebirds during the previous season’s winter window, when he became a mainstay in Pete Wild’s rotation.
He has made 39 appearances for Barrow so far, and he has directly assisted in eight goals.
However, Garner has only played 795 minutes in the league this season owing to a combination of injuries and intense competition on the offensive line at the SO Legal Stadium.
The former striker for Fleetwood Town will so join the Shrimps on loan through June 30.
“Since we brought Ged in last year, he has shown glimpses of the real quality he possesses,” stated Pete Wild. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had the run of games necessary to prove to everyone what a great player he is because of injury and genuine competition for spots.
“Ged came to see me regarding going out on loan to get some games under his belt. After a thoughtful conversation, we concluded that it would be best for him to go out and play.
“I’m confident he’ll pick himself up and demonstrate his genuine abilities.”
