The signing of winger Brandon Barker to a contract that runs through the end of the 2023–2024 season has been announced by Morecambe.
Barker, a graduate of the Manchester City academy, brings a plethora of experience to the team from his time spent playing for Rangers.
The 27-year-old made his competitive debut in an FA Cup match against Chelsea in 2016. He started his career at Manchester City at the age of eight.
Barker was loaned out to multiple teams when he was at Etihad, including Rotherham, NAC Breda, Hibs, and Preston North End.
Barker joined Scottish Premiership powerhouse Rangers in 2019 after leaving Manchester City, and he went on to win a league title there.
He also played for Oxford United, Reading, and Omonia Nikosia in Cyprus during his career.
Barker, who has previously played youth international for England 15 times, said he was “absolutely delighted” to be joining Morecambe. This year, the lads are performing well, so maybe I can contribute my experience and assist the squad go up the standings.
“I look to be direct, hopefully get off to a quick start, and get much sharper over the coming games,” he continued. I’m hoping to thrill [the fans].
Another development is that Morecambe has signed defender Kayden Harrack, who will play for them through the end of the season.
The 20-year-old, who started out at Brentford before moving to QPR, has nine Grenada international caps under his belt and has teamed up with Shrimps defender Jacob Bedeau. He has experience playing at the U21 level as well.
Harrack, who plays right back but is primarily a center-back, echoed his excitement.
I’m ecstatic!I only heard good things from Jacob [Bedeau], so that was undoubtedly a contributing element in my decision to arrive. I’d define myself as combative, defence minded, passionate and I’ll leave everything on the pitch every week.”
