Morecambe reminder to Derek Adams*

After spending just 79 days at the Dingwall club for his third stint, Adams departed Ross County last week.

To be honest, it never really got underway since he left the Highland club while they were still very much in danger of relegation.

Adams made several jabs at the calibre of Scottish football during his brief reign. His assertion that Morecambe, a League Two team, was “100 times better” than County drew the most criticism.

Since then, other managers have been questioned on the subject.

However, Robinson had an advantage over most others because, like Adams, he had managed in Morecambe and Scotland.

When asked if he felt sorry for Adams because of his remarks on PLZ Soccer, the manager of St. Mirren responded, “No, not at all. Recall that I oversaw Morecambe.”

He went on: “To be honest, I don’t think there are enough young Scottish players emerging. Young Scottish players are becoming increasingly tough to insert since there is so little time for success. Everyone will tell you to start young players, but if you do so and end up losing three games against them, you’re going to be in serious trouble.

It’s challenging to continue growing them as a manager. Every game in the league is extremely popular due to the large number of players. You’re staring over your shoulder at the postseason spot if you drop two or three games. After two or three victories, you may see Europe.

“There are about twenty teams in the English league. There are also times during which you can start younger players for five or six games without fear of relegation, albeit you still won’t finish in the top six or seven. We so need to get better at that.
“The game has several adjustments that might make it better. In Scottish football, there is a loan system. For example, we have a young youngster who is currently on loan in Ireland. However, because he has only played one cup match for us, we are unable to bring him back and loan him somewhere. The SFA may be able to assist with some things. They have asked us questions about it and have talked to us about it.
