The Saddlers were left frustrated on Saturday as Gillingham came from behind to cancel out Isaac Hutchinson’s penalty.
Morecambe, buoyed by a fine victory over Crawley Town last time out, will arrive full of confidence but Sadler is keen to take the positives from Saturday’s performance in Kent into tomorrow night’s contest.
Tuesday is the next challenge, so we need to recover, so we must maintain our belief that we are an amazing squad. Sadler stated as much.
“Morecambe had a great performance at Crawley on Saturday, winning 2-1. They are a team with some strong players, a competent manager, and a style of play.
“It’s evident that we enter a home game with a strong desire to win and receive our just desserts from Saturday’s match on Tuesday evening.”
Despite his frustration, Sadler thought his squad demonstrated their strengths and that the Saddlers should have won three points against the Gills.
He said, “I thought we were absolutely brilliant.”
“We led the game from the very first minute; our only letdown is that we gave up the goal.
“We were the superior squad, as anyone who saw the game could see. We performed so well that I believe we instantly silenced the audience and that at halftime they were jeered off.
We’re obviously unhappy that we didn’t win the game, but as I’ve said before, we’re developing into a very good club in this league. I thought we played excellently and demonstrated what a wonderful team we are.
We’re becoming aware of our strengths as a team. Although there have been two drops, the indicators are very positive.
“The positives have to be how good we were and how we controlled the game. We’re disappointed because we’re a very good team and should have won.”
