Lionel Messi dream will come true for Motherwell hero..

Theo Bair dreams of taking on Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the Copa America this summer – and that means playing to his best for Motherwell.

Canada take on World Cup and Copa America champions Argentina in the tournament’s opening match on June 20, having qualified via a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago on March 23.

Although Bair didn’t play for the Steelmen and it was his first call-up in four years, he still thinks that his performances will help him obtain the call and complete a personal goal.

He might just get to carry it out after scoring his 12th goal of the year in Motherwell’s 1-1 draw with St. Mirren at home on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Bair stated, “I had a good international experience.”

That was good to see the skill of some of the men, but it was also comforting to know that I didn’t feel out of place since there are a lot of players playing at a much higher level than me when I go there. I would describe it as somewhat humbling.

“Having a role in the squad is beneficial. I believe it was about 55 minutes into the game when I was really called upon to come on, but we eventually scored a goal with the combined efforts of both strikers, so you never know what will happen in a game you have to win.

“But the first step is that I’m back in the mix. We’ll see what happens because I want to keep going, but I’m pleased to participate.”

Bair responded, “100%,” when asked if playing Messi and Argentina between now and the end of the season provides him any more motivation.

“I would want to participate in that game, if not play, but right now I’m totally focused on Motherwell.

Now that I’m back, we have a lot on the queue.

“This season’s prize for me was getting called up. Although I didn’t get to play, I believe the coach there informed me that I had done really well and received exactly what I deserved. After all, it’s only a first step, and you have to start somewhere.

Bair believes that his goal might prove to be crucial for Motherwell in their quest for a remote chance of still finishing in the top six of the Premiership.

The striker declared, “I’m happy to score it; it was an important one.” “Although it wasn’t my best day ever, this is a crucial moment when we think about it.

“As a striker, those are the kinds of situations I love to be in, where I can be subpar but still score.

“Scoring goals is what I do for a living, so the fact that I did score and once again had the intuition to be in the right place is what matters.”

“I could see Stephen O’Donnell was going to get the ball, and I knew he would knock it down and

“Isn’t it like night and day between this season and the prior one?

“Even on days like Saturday, when I don’t have my best day, I still had some great moments, I think I’m genuinely loving my football.

“But the most important thing is that I’m having a great time and I know I always have a chance to score when I play for Motherwell.”

Bair intends to maintain his scoring ways against Motherwell’s next two opponents, Hibs, and their trip to Dundee on Saturday.

“We have two cup finals,” he stated. To see what we can get, we must put forth a lot of effort.

But one game at a time is the main emphasis; we’ll see what transpires.
