Motherwell boss expresses concern as club looses two players to rivals

Hearts have agreed pre-contract deals for Motherwell midfielder Blair Spittal and Livingston left-back James Penrice.

Spittal, 28, has been a standout for Motherwell this season, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists.

Formerly with Dundee United, Partick Thistle and Ross County, he had several options before choosing the switch to Tynecastle under freedom of contract.

Penrice, 25, has been at Livingston since 2021, having had a previous loan spell in West Lothian.

He has made 31 appearances during this campaign, laying on five assists.

The pair will be joined by current Ross County playmaker Yan Dhanda, who agreed a move to Hearts after the Edinburgh club failed to sign the 25-year-old Englishman in January.

There is no hope to win the cup because the majority of the midfield is incompetent. It has been aching for a right-back for a full year; Sibbick is a liability, and Shankland receives little assistance. Really happy with the additions for the upcoming campaign. Although we really need a right-back and another striker, it demonstrates desire. Cross your fingers.
