Eli Manning Advises Giants’ Tommy DeVito How to Beat Dallas Cowboys & Micah Parsons
FRISCO – Tommy DeVito is about to make his first start for the New York Giants this week, and a predecessor is trying to offer some advice to the undrafted rookie QB who is part of a team that on Sunday will be a 17-point underdogs at the Dallas Cowboys. “Try to throw it to the guys wearing the same jerseys that you’re wearing. That’s the No. 1 rule for quarterbacks,” Manning said to The Spun. “If I’m wearing blue today, I got to throw it to the guys wearing blue.
We’ll presume that DeVito is aware of that aspect of the game given the injuries to Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones. But really, is there any way the 2-7 Giants can withstand what is expected of them against a Dallas club that defeated them 40-0 at MetLife when they played there at full strength?
Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning of the Giants truly does have some X’s and O’s tips for the New Jersey native DeVito, with one section concentrating on the Giants’ offence and another on the Cowboys’ defense.
Manning stated of the Giants running back, “Saquon Barkley will need to play a big part in this game.” He also stated, “Having the whole week to prepare as the starter should give Tommy a better chance to do well.”
And the idea of being defensive-minded?
Naturally, Manning is well aware that these ideas are not particularly novel; in fact, he expressed his excitement to see what the 25-year-old DeVito may do in his first NFL start.
The Giants would be winning if all they had to do to win was depend on Barkley, their greatest player.
And the Cowboys wouldn’t be 5-3 if double-teaming Parsons was all it needed to beat the “Dallas Doomsday” defence.
Regarding the game plan, Manning stated, “Let’s try to double-team Micah Parsons for the most of the day so Tommy has time to push the ball downfield.”
Even though Manning may be thrilled to see Tommy DeVito on Sunday, Parsons and the Cowboys are likely even more thrilled.
