Giants preparing to get back star offensive lineman against Jets

The Giants are hoping that quarterback Daniel Jones, who hurt his neck against the Miami Dolphins, will be well enough to play against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets, who just defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, boast a strong defence. The Giants’ offence will need to perform at its best if they hope to win since they will not be an easy opponent.

Having said that, some would contend that Tyrod Taylor is currently superior to Jones; but, the Giants will not sit a quarterback to whom they have recently awarded a four-year, $160 million contract. Luckily for Jones, standout left tackle Andrew Thomas is also anticipated to make his eagerly anticipated comeback if he is able to play in Week 8.

Over the course of seven weeks, the Giants’ offensive line has allowed 121 pressures and 22 sacks, ranking among the worst in all of football. Despite having multiple backups and practise squad players filling starting positions, they performed far better against the Washington Commanders. Although it was a heroic effort, the Giants should see much greater assurance and effectiveness from their line when Thomas moves to left tackle.

Given that John Michael-Schmitz isn’t ready to make a comeback from his shoulder injury, this would allow Justin Pugh to take over at left guard. Ben Bredeson would revert to left guard if JMS is able to play, making Pugh the first option reserve for a variety of positions. Though Bredesen played well against Washington, JMS is the team’s best centre by a wide distance, and Thomas is among the top left tackles in football, so the Giants would receive a huge infusion of skill in that regard.
