Giants QB: “I’m Focused Right Now”

Daniel Jones on Giants’ Potential Draught Selection of a QB: I’m Concentrated on My Current Tasks.

While he recovers from an ACL tear, veteran quarterback Daniel Jones isn’t concerned about the chance that the New York Giants would choose him as a replacement in the 2024 draught.

When asked on Wednesday whether the Giants would select a quarterback this spring, Jones responded as follows to reporters:

General manager Joe Schoen’s participation at a Washington Huskies vs. USC Trojans game earlier this month sparked rumours that the Giants would choose a quarterback in the 2024 selection.

Caleb Williams and Michael Penix Jr., two of the top signal-callers in the 2024 draught class, were on display in this game.

Then, on Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that following Jones’ Sunday ACL tear versus the Las Vegas Raiders, the Giants may select a quarterback in the 2024 selection.

“[Jones] is promised $35 million for the upcoming year. Although Rapoport stated that “he’s not going anywhere, they might be bad enough to select a quarterback highly in the upcoming draught.”

After Jones shown growth in 2022 and guided the team into the playoffs for the first time since 2016, the Giants signed him to a four-year, $160 million agreement in March.

But Jones’s season-long performance has raised questions about whether he will stay in New York. In six games, he ran for 206 yards and one touchdown while completing 67.5 percent of his throws for 909 yards and two touchdowns against six interceptions before tearing his ACL.

These are hardly encouraging stats, and the Giants would be stupid to overlook choosing a signal-caller given that they are now fourth in the NFC East with a 2-7 record and may be selected first overall in the 2024 draught.

Williams is regarded as the finest option available and the current Heisman Trophy winner.

The quarterback that is ranked first on the Bleacher Report Scouting Department’s 2024 draught big board is the exceptional player from USC. Drake Maye of UNC is the other player listed in the top 30.

Other quarterbacks that may be available are Quinn Ewers of Texas, J.J. McCarthy of Michigan, and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado.
