Mets are finalist for starting pitcher who remade himself, report says:

Two teams are in the running to sign Erick Fedde: the White Sox and the Mets, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

A two-year, $10 million contract for the right-hander is anticipated, and Feinsand reports that it might be finalized on Tuesday.

Fedde, 30, made his big league debut in 2017 after being selected by the Nationals in the first round of the 2014 draft. He had a 5.41 ERA during six seasons with Washington, pitching 454 1/3 innings with 352 strikeouts and 191 walks.

Fedde became a free agent following the 2022 season when the Nationals decided not to re-sign him. After that, he got a contract with the KBO league’s DC Dinos, where he played well enough to be selected an All-Star in 2023 after finishing with a 2.00 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 180 1/3 innings (30 starts). He was also the KBO league MVP and the recipient of the Choi Dong-won Award, the KBO’s version of the Cy Young Award.

Fedde may join a rotation led by Kodai Senga if the Mets sign him. In addition, the Mets added former Yankee star Luis Severino to a one-year contract this offseason. They also have Jose Quintana.
