The winners of the 2023 Rawlings Gold Glove Award will be revealed on ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” on Sunday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The finalists are being announced on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter. As Rawlings announces each finalist, a list of them will appear here.
Each position, including the utility berth, which was given for the first time in 2022, has three contenders per league.
The 30 MLB managers and up to six coaches from each team cast votes from a pool of players in their league, excluding players from their own team, to select the champions at the nine standard positions. The SABR Defensive Index counts for the remaining 25% of the selection total, with these votes making up 75% of the total.
In addition to the standard selection procedure, Rawlings and SABR worked together to develop a unique defensive formula specifically for the utility position.
For the utility position, Rawlings collaborated with SABR to create a specialized defensive formula separate from the traditional selection process.
