Eddie Howe reveals about 24-year-old Newcastle forward

Alexander Isak grabbed another goal for Newcastle United yesterday taking him to five for the season in all competitions.

Alexander Isak of Newcastle acknowledged after the 2-0 victory over Burnley that he should have scored more goals but that his goal-scoring instincts let him down.

Despite costing £63 million, the Swede nevertheless managed to score the game’s only goal thanks to a coolly executed penalty in the second half.

Eddie Howe expresses his “great pleasure” at Isak joining Newcastle.
At full-time, Eddie Howe talked on NUFC TV and gushed about Isak, saying: “Really thrilled. The penalty, in my opinion, was a turning point, and Alex is a cool dude. He’s really collected and quiet, and I felt he handled it very well.Arsenal told they 'need' 30-goal per season Premier League star compared to Thierry Henry | Football | Sport | Express.co.uk

“I believe he had another fantastic opportunity, which he undoubtedly regrets having passed up, but he is such a gift. He is a true technician, and we are happy to have him on our team.

When Isak was given a one-on-one opportunity in the first half, his initial touch let him down, and while he was still able to round the goalkeeper, he was unable to wrap his foot around the ball and send it into the open goal.

Isak continues to trail Haaland by four goals in the battle for the Golden Boot.
When Isak dispatched his penalty, there were no indications of the kind of mental and confidence damage that a lesser player could have allowed that incident to do.

Isak is now a few goals behind Erling Haaland in the battle for the Golden Boot with four Premier League goals in six games, but if he keeps healthy, I still expect him to be there or thereabouts by the end of the season.

The Champions League matchup between Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday may allow Callum Wilson to lead the line and keep Isak out of the lineup for the weekend trip to West Ham. Although it could make more sense to start Wilson over Isak the next weekend considering his history versus West Ham.
