Two Newcastle United players have already withdrawn from international duty but several are still in action.
The October international break is officially underway with a number of Newcastle United players in action for their respective nations.
Nine of the Magpies’ first-team stars earned call-ups in total but two of those have already withdrawn. Alexander Isak pulled out of the Sweden squad because of a thigh issue, while Sandro Tonali has returned to Tyneside amid a probe by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office.
A statement by the Italian Federation read: “The Federation announces that, in the late afternoon of today, the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office notified investigation documents to the players Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo, currently in training with the national team at the Federal Technical Center in Coverciano.
“Regardless of the nature of the acts, believing that in this situation the two players are not in the necessary condition to face the commitments scheduled in the next few days, the Federation has decided, also to protect them, to allow them to return to their respective clubs.”
The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Miguel Almiron were in action during the early hours of Friday morning, while a couple of players featured on Thursday evening.
Here’s a round-up of how each player has fared on international duty so far, plus a recap of when the other players are in action.
1. Kieran Trippier – England
In-form Trippier is the only Newcastle man included in the England squad. Gareth Southgate’s side take on Australia in a friendly tonight before the Euro 2024 qualifier v Italy on Tuesday.
