Newcastle line up move to sign Everton first-team powerhouse

For Newcastle United, the January transfer window cannot arrive soon enough in many ways.

In addition, should the Magpies still be in the Champions League and competing hard in the Premier League, Eddie Howe would undoubtedly want to bolster his current squad. Sandro Tonali’s absence from the midfield is expected to pose issues for the team.

It’s perhaps with that in mind that inews (subscription required) are reporting that the north east giants are considering Everton powerhouse midfielder, Amadou Onana, as a potential replacement for Tonali.

One of their hardest-working players is unlikely to approach the Toffees, but considering their current situation on and off the field, it’s quite likely that they wouldn’t be able to turn down a good offer if one were made.

The addition of Onana would undoubtedly change things up in the Magpies midfield and give it even more vigor and ambition.

The 22-year-old Senegalese player is exactly the right kind of player to carry out Howe’s preferred style of play since he is constantly on the attack and prepared to press at any time, from the first minute to the end.

Even if no decision has been made yet, this is a move to keep an eye on in the coming couple of months.
