Club could be forced to sell their £50m star, after claims Newcastle wanted him in January

Newcastle United could be given a huge boost this summer as one of their previous transfer targets could be put on the market.

Newcastle had been monitoring Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey back in January, but their Premier League rivals were always going to be unwilling to sell in the middle of a hugely important season for them.

But according to a recent rumour from GiveMeSport, Villa may be obliged to put the 22-year-old on the transfer list during the upcoming window due to their financial difficulties.

Newcastle given boost in pursuit of £50m star

Eddie Howe is eager to add to his Newcastle team this summer after the group suffered an unanticipated number of injuries this season and found itself shorthanded in terms of quality depth.

It’s safe to say that the club saw Ramsey as a future star for their team because the 46-year-old head coach won’t want to deal with a situation like this in the midfield next season.

Howe would undoubtedly love to have Ramsey on his Newcastle team because he is one of those players who isn’t afraid to take a punch and give it his best for the group.

The £50 million midfielder’s preference for an attacking role is his sole drawback; Newcastle is looking for a more defensively minded player to shore up their defence for the upcoming season.

The Magpies are hoping for a huge summer window

Although Newcastle has had some success recently, they will be expecting a lot of changes in the summer to make any serious progress towards moving up to the Premier League’s next level.

In addition to Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron, two players in their 30s who may be sold to raise some cash, there are still a number of Newcastle players who are on the outside looking in and will probably be let go.

This will be particularly true if Newcastle isn’t able to spend as much money as they had hoped to add some quality players to a club that is devoid of Champions League and trophy-winning experience.
