The Magpies will undoubtedly add players to their roster during the summer transfer window, but it would also be surprising if they retained all of their key players by the start of the following season. The Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations will undoubtedly play a role in their preparations.
It seems likely that Bruno Guimaraes will leave in the summer, as Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain is rumoured to be interested in signing him. Though CEO Darren Eales has acknowledged the necessity to sell in order to purchase, there is still hope that the Magpies’ top player may stay put and generate a sizable sum of money.
Another player rumoured to be leaving Newcastle at the end of the season is Kieran Trippier, an Englishman who was predicted to go back in January but ultimately decided to stay at St James’ for the time being. He was apparently coveted by Bayern Munich, but a move never happened.
Miguel Almiron, who has struggled to establish himself as a regular this season and is expected to be replaced by Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon, is one player who appears increasingly likely to depart in the summer transfer window. The way he has plummeted in the hierarchy suggests that the Magpies are ready to let him go.
Despite the fact that the defender is 33 years old, it is “highly likely” that he will be offered a new contract by the Magpies, who still view him as a key member of the team going forward.
Regardless of Trippier’s age, this is fantastic news for Newcastle, as the right-back has been such a force since moving from Atletico Madrid back in 2022. His admiration for him has never wavered; early in the season, Alan Shearer, a star with the Magpies, said of him, “Some of the balls he was putting into the box were just unbelievable.” He’s been a terrific addition to Newcastle and is playing fantastically.
While it is true that Newcastle still needs to add a full-back, Tino Livramento is starting to show himself as a capable substitute, thus the left side appears to require more immediate attention.
Even though this season hasn’t gone as planned for him and the squad, Trippier is permitted a minor decline in form and fitness, which could result in a more organic rotation with Livramento next term. For the time being, Trippier still has enough left in the tank to remain a vital player for Eddie Howe for a few more years.
This is brilliant news for Newcastle, regardless of Trippier’s age, with the right-back such an influential figure even since arriving from Atletico Madrid back in 2022. Magpies legend Alan Shearer has always been an admirer, saying of him earlier in the season: “Some of the balls he was putting into the box were just unbelievable. What a signing he has been for Newcastle, he’s in great form.”
