Newport boss shows interest in Manchester United Starlet admired by many#

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, two “special” young players that Manchester United faces in the FA Cup fourth round, according to Newport County manager Graham Coughlan.

Coughlin might also get the opportunity to see their skills up close on Sunday afternoon.

As Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were undoubtedly Manchester United’s best players that evening, Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag started both of them during the team’s easy 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the third round.

And although Coughlin is intent on capturing a momentous giant-killing, picturing David welcoming Goliath to South Wales with a catapault concealed behind his back and a fixed smile on his face, the self-described United supporter is eager to see what the future holds for Garnacho and Mainoo at Old Trafford.

Newport County host Manchester United

“Oh yeah, things can only get better,” the 49-year-old Dublin native says to The Athletic.

In fairness, United has been making it to cup finals and has recently placed second in the league. That is not too far off. Every player, supporter, and board member needs to contribute an additional 1%, and I’m confident that the good times will come again.

Why not under Erik ten Hag, I fail to see.

There are many young players emerging for him, and he has good players there. An exceptional talent is Alejandro Garnacho. Mainoo Kobbie as well.

Garnacho has elevated his game this season following one of the most thrilling breakout seasons of any United youth in recent memory. That overhead kick was scored by the Argentina international during the team’s 3-0 victory over Everton, where Mainoo made his eagerly anticipated full debut.

“When he played at Everton, (Mainoo) looked like a seasoned pro with 300 games under his belt,” continues Coughlan. “I’m excited to watch him grow, and I’d take that all day long.”

Debut for Altay Bayindir in FA Cup clash

In response to the shocking announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool, Ten Hag stated at his press conference on Friday that Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, and Luke Shaw might also play at Newport.

In Andre Onana’s absence, keeper Altay Bayindir will make his United debut.
