Newport response to MK Dons on Boxing Day

Head coach Scott Lindsey wants to see a response from his team after suffering back-to-back losses in League Two, but considering the team’s performance in the 6-3 thrashing at the hands of the Exiles at Rodney Parade, the manager believes the travelling supporters in particular deserve a performance from MK Dons on Boxing Day after witnessing their team’s lacklustre showing at Newport County on Saturday.

Before Thursday’s match against Notts County, he stated, “We owe the fans for what they saw on Saturday.” We look forward to the game, enjoy playing at home, and hope that the supporters will come out after Christmas to enjoy the game.

“It’s not the worst time in the season to have a bad performance or result like we did on Saturday. It could have been in March or April time when we’re running out of games. And trust me we’re working hard to do that.”

After ending a five-game losing streak last Saturday by defeating former Dons manager Graham Alexander’s Bradford City 3-0 at Meadow Lane, the Magpies enter Stadium MK in seventh place, one point ahead of Dons in League Two.

Lindsey said he had liked researching Notts County, a team that is predicted to compete with Dons for promotion this season: “Notts County are a very good side, had a really good result at the weekend scoring three goals in about three or four minutes.” They were excellent and very effective. They have some nice people that can do you a lot of harm, but I genuinely enjoy them.

It isn’t more significant than the previous game or the one that follows. Our goal is to win them all. Our goal is to win every game; that’s what we’re attempting to accomplish. That is what we want to do, but we probably won’t.
