The single-vehicle crash happened around 8:40 a.m. on Sewells Point Road.
NORFOLK, Va. — Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Norfolk Friday morning that left a man dead.
According to the Norfolk Police Department, emergency dispatchers received a report around 8:40 a.m. of a car that had hit a power pole in the 3400 block of Sewells Point Road.
Officers said the driver had to be taken to a nearby hospital due to life-threatening injuries. He later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
The man has been identified as Marvin E. Taft, 59, of Newport News.
No further information has been released.
