A two-car collision on Tuedsday that left one person dead and four others hospitalised marked the continuation of a violent week on Norfolk County roads.
The crash happened at the rural crossroads west of Waterford, at the intersection of Windham East Quarter Line Road and Windham Road 9, according to the Norfolk OPP. It happened at approximately 8:10 a.m.
On the spot, one person passed away.
According to authorities, four more people were hurt and were brought to Simcoe’s Norfolk General Hospital “conscious and breathing.”
The force of the collision, according to the police, threw one person from their car.
On the scene, two Ornge air ambulances were dispatched.
Prior to the police investigation, which included the OPP’s collision reconstruction team, firefighters and paramedics responded.
Const. Jonathan Bueckert said, “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this tragic event.”
The deadly collision happened the day after Norfolk police asked drivers to be more cautious when driving.
Two motorcyclists suffered serious injuries in two collisions involving pickup trucks and motorcycles earlier this week.
