Former UNC Basketball player Theo Pinson had 2017 National Champion teammate Tony Bradley on his recent podcast, and an interesting story came out.
Six years after UNC Basketball won their seventh National Championship and gained redemption in 2017, we are still hearing stories about that magical night in Phoenix, Arizona. While some of those stories have been re-told by multiple people from different points of view, this one is one that we have not heard before and may actually surprise you.
On his Run Your Race podcast, former UNC Basketball player Theo Pinson sits down to talk with former teammate Tony Bradley about that night and what happened in the locker room postgame during the celebration.
Naturally, the celebration was lively and full of emotions for achieving the dream of hanging a banner in the Dean E. Smith Center rafters, but Bradley couldn’t celebrate no matter how badly he wanted to join his teammates.
Why not?
Full-body cramps (ouch!). Take a listen for yourself.
This may be one of the craziest stories we’ve heard from this magical UNC Basketball team. Bradley goes on to say it isn’t the first time he has experienced this and even had to be taken to the hospital a few times in high school because of full-body cramps. This time, though, it couldn’t have been worse timing, coming just moments after winning a National Championship and wanting to celebrate with your teammates.
