Businessman, explains sweet reasons for investing in Cobblers

The holding company that holds the majority of the shares in Northampton Town Football Club, Northampton Town Ventures Limited, was purchased by businessman Nigel Le Quesne, who has explained his motivations for doing so.

Mr Le Quesne, the CEO of JCT Group, used to own a football team in Jersey, the state in which he was born, and he currently has a season ticket for Tottenham. After acquiring 25% of the club’s holding company, he will now become a member of the board of Northampton.

“Having been fortunate enough to build and develop some successful businesses, as well as having played, watched, and loved football my entire life, I have always been very interested in how football and business combine in England, so an involvement in a club makes a lot of sense,” he stated.

“I have experience in the football industry; I was the owner and chairman of Jersey Wanderers FC, the oldest football team in Jersey, for ten years. More recently, JTC has served as the primary sponsor of Jersey Bulls FC, a team competing in the Premier South division of the Combined Counties League.

Since this is something that is very important to me, I have been really impressed with Northampton Town’s work in the community. I look forward to collaborating closely with everyone at the club to maintain the momentum that it appears to have.

“I witnessed firsthand the impact and relationship the club has with the fan base when I attended the Fleetwood game at Sixfields just before Christmas. I am particularly looking forward to learning more and applying my knowledge to support the strategic development of the club in many areas.

“I have watched most games on iFollow and have taken a very keen interest in the results and performances since that game, and while the conversations were getting more serious, it’s been great to see how the whole club has worked together to produce the results they have this season.”
