The Clause in the Cobblers funds for completion of the East Stand.

In the near future, we hope to provide supporters with revised plans, some new CGI images, and build timelines.

After obtaining all required approvals, Cobblers have announced that the purchase of land at Sixfields with West Northamptonshire Council is now complete.

The club can now proceed and complete the East Stand after a laborious process that lasted for almost ten years. The construction company GRS Group has already started some preliminary work at Sixfields, and they intend to release some updated computer-generated images (CGIs) depicting the final design of the stand.

“This is fantastic news for the club, and we are delighted to have concluded the process,” stated Kelvin Thomas, the chairman. In order to strengthen the club’s asset base and enable the long-awaited infrastructure upgrades—particularly to the East Stand—we have made a sizable investment here.

It is particularly encouraging that, despite heightened scrutiny and a lot of false information being spread, The Hon. Mrs. Justice Karen Steyn KC and the judicial review validated the entire process. The Hon. Justice Steyn made it abundantly evident that the club and the council behaved appropriately at all times, that the process was open and deliberate, and that this agreement served the council, the club, and the people of West Northamptonshire.

“We are happy that Hon. Justice Steyn recognised this work as well. We would like to thank the West Northamptonshire Council officers and members who have handled the matter professionally throughout while defending the interests of the people of West Northamptonshire.

“As we have always stated, building the East Stand is currently our top priority. In the near future, we will be able to provide supporters with updated plans, some new CGI images, and build timelines while our construction partner GRS Group keeps up the great work on the necessary preliminary work. It’s a really hectic moment.

“We’re very pleased to have completed this land sale, which represents excellent value for taxpayers,” said West Northamptonshire Council leader Cllr. Jonathan Nunn. “The final sale price was far greater than the initial professional assessments of the land’s value.”

“The best opportunity for the land’s beneficial development is provided by this deal. As the club has stated, I am also happy that this purchase puts it in a strong position to finish the East Stand.

“The sale is in keeping with our Cabinet’s publicly announced decision from March 2022, which was upheld by the judicial review process that followed.”
