The winger, who leads the Canaries in scoring this year, withdrew from England U21 duty during the international break due to a heel injury sustained on Saturday, missing the team’s 1-0 victory over QPR.
Rowe has been coping with the problem since prior to City’s loss to Blackburn, but he managed to play through the discomfort against Cardiff and Rovers. He hasn’t stopped receiving evaluations and treatments during the club football break.
Even though he took a fitness test on Friday to see if he could play on Saturday, it was determined that he could not be included in the matchday squad.
Hwang Ui-jo’s goal to seal the 1-0 victory against the Championship strugglers was the only effort on target that City’s attack managed to muster during the victory.
Due to the intricacy of Rowe’s injury, City’s options are limited to giving him time to heal and rest before putting him back into Championship action. He is definitely doubtful for the trip to Watford on Tuesday.
“Jonny Rowe is still experiencing heel issues. Because there is nothing you can do but offload him and wait for it to heal, this is something that is very hard to predict,” City manager Wagner stated.
“Does it require two days? Twenty days, is that it? No one is aware. There is nothing you can do. Nothing, not even an injection.
“He made a test on Friday, but he was not able to make it, and we have to look from day to day as to whether it is good enough for him to be back in the race.”
Rowe is not the only winger out for City; Przemyslaw Placheta, a Polish international, is also out with an injury.
“Przemmy (Placheta) had something fall on his toes, and this meant he was not able to make the matchday squad,” Wagner stated. “We will have to see how he looks for Tuesday.
To help with their injury woes, Norwich is hoping to welcome back first-choice custodian Angus Gunn, captain Grant Hanley, Adam Forshaw, and striker Josh Sargent in the upcoming weeks.
