David Wagner Poor Form, Ben Knapper to Take Decision now …

Norwich City were going to let their new sporting director Ben Knapper make a decision later this month

Given their deteriorating circumstances, Norwich City could have to decide David Wagner’s future sooner than anticipated.
The squad might face relegation due to their recent setback and dismal league performance.
Ben Knapper, Norwich’s new sports director, should have joined the team earlier to assist with the crucial decision about the manager’s future.

Although Ben Knapper, the new sports director of Norwich City, won’t take over as manager for a few weeks, the club was happy to let him decide on David Wagner’s future.

According to reports, Wagner’s status at the club is becoming worse with every game, thus the club could be obliged to make a decision about his future.

Their most recent outcome was a 3-1 loss at home to Blackburn Rovers, as the supporters collectively let out their frustration with loud jeers following the second goal.

After what appeared to be a very promising start to the season, that setback meant that they had only won once in their past eight league games.

Last month, the Canaries said that Ben Knapper will take over as their new sporting director, with an official start date of November 27.

After serving in a variety of strategic capacities for 13 years at Arsenal, including most recently as the loan and pathway manager, he is leaving the team to join the new one.

Before he departs, it was intended for him to complete a transition phase with current sporting director Stuart Webber, but given the present situation, that may need to alter.

It is unclear if the team would want to wait for Knapper’s opinion on matters or if they would be content to let Webber make a few significant choices before he leaves.

Wagner came out and expressed his love for the club after the most recent setback, but unfortunately it seems like the writing is on the wall for him.

Given their current record, Norwich might very well be facing relegation if Wagner stays in charge. Given their prior history of promotions, supporters would not have even considered this possibility at the beginning of the season.

Given how significant the next choice will be for the future, it could make sense for the club to try to bring Knapper in sooner to work with Webber so they can complete the initial handover phase quicker.

Norwich has two away games against Cardiff City and one at home against relegation contenders QPR before the official start date for Knapper, so it’s feasible that things might grow much worse for the club if Wagner loses both of them.

Furthermore, the German will be tarnishing his already stellar reputation following his success with Huddersfield Town, therefore it could be best for all sides to terminate this as soon as possible—even if it means taking away Knapper’s decision.
