The 23-year-old forward has scored some crucial goals in Celtic’s quest for the title.
Celtic striker Adam Idah revealed he is now playing with more confidence and self-belief that at any point in his career as he looks to end the season on a high.
The Republic of Ireland player, who signed with the Scottish champions on loan in January, has scored some crucial goals to strengthen the Hoops’ title push. These goals include the one he scored last weekend in the 3-3 draw at Ibrox and the late goals he scored against Motherwell and Hibs.
The 23-year-old striker joined from Norwich on deadline day, and in 11 games (five coming off the bench), he has six goals.
With 15 goals in all competitions, it has been his finest goal-scoring season to date if added to his seven goals for the Canaries and two goals for his country in the first half of the season.
Prior to the Premiership matchup with St Mirren on Saturday, he stated: “Obviously, it helps any player score a goal, especially with confidence.”
I’m having a great time performing up here. I think this is the most self-assured I’ve ever been. By looking at the goals, you can probably tell that when I’m on the pitch and in general, it’s probably the best I’ve ever played.
“The boys have grown accustomed to me and understand my football style, and I have a lot more playing time and the manager’s trust.”
“You do become confident in yourself when that first goal comes and when people have that trust in you.” Little things matter a lot, like having your supporters’ back.
Idah’s loan move allowed Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers to work with him and improve his game, and the strong forward is benefiting from it.
“You can see I have improved my game from the many things he does in training with me and the other attacking players,” he remarked.
“He has been a huge help to me.” We talked about some topics when I first walked in, and he thought he could help me get better at them. I’m trying to return him as much as I can for his faith in me, week by week, as I go about achieving that. It’s been a great connection, in my opinion.
Idah went into further detail about the self-difference he has noticed since moving.
The native of Cork stated, “It’s huge to be that confident player.” “I didn’t feel secure and I wasn’t getting minutes when I returned to Norwich. Being in this situation when things are not going well is tough.
“I don’t believe you feel like you will miss every opportunity; rather, I believe that if you do miss one, you will believe that everything is ending, that everyone is against you, and that you will undoubtedly hear negative things more often than you would if you were self-assured.
Although this is a challenging place to be, there is always a way out, and coming up here has been a huge help to me.
It has therefore been wonderful for me to come here and have the staff and fans support me. I adore it.
Idah is a valuable addition to Rodgers’ team, and a summer transfer could be possible, but neither of them is planning too far ahead as Celtic hunt for glory in the league and Scottish Cup.
Idah said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen yet. I haven’t thought about what’s next for me. I am enjoying my football now, I will try and finish the season on a high and who knows? We will see.”
