£15m West Ham target scores sensational 12th goal of the season
West Ham United have been linked with Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe in recent days.
The Hammers have been monitoring the 20-year-old winger, according to the Evening Standard.
It’s possible that West Ham united was keeping an eye on Rowe during Friday night’s Championship action. If they did, they undoubtedly enjoyed what they observed.
At Hull City, the Canaries defeated them 2-1 on the road, with the rumoured Hammers target scoring the first goal in impressive fashion.
Rowe scored from the edge of the box in the 36th minute after seizing a loose ball in the centre of the park, going on a solo run, and dodging several players.
Due to the current absence of four important Hammers players, West Ham is experiencing a personnel problem in their assault.
Jarrod Bowen will be out for at least two weeks due to an ankle problem, and Michail Antonio may be out for up to six weeks due to a knee ailment.
Additionally, Mohammed Kudus is playing for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations, and Lucas Paqueta may be sidelined for two months due to a calf injury.
In light of this, West Ham is said to have changed their plans for the January transfer window, making front-line reinforcements a higher priority.
Despite Rowe’s exceptional talent, the Hammers will have challenges in trying to acquire him from a team vying for promotion.
Wolves reportedly made a £15 million offer for Rowe in the summer, but Norwich turned it down. Given that the player has already tallied 12 goals and three assists this season, it was a wise decision.
When they have the opportunity to play in the top division themselves the following season, they will undoubtedly reject a mid-season bid if they were prepared to turn down a fairly sizable offer from a Premier League side during the summer transfer window.
