In July 2022, AC Milan secured the signing of Divock Origi, after his contract with Liverpool expired.
After his time at Anfield, a few clubs had expressed interest in giving the striker an opportunity in the hopes of using him more effectively than Jurgen Klopp had.
The race was won by AC Milan, and there was probably too much excitement around the deal. After a season, they looked to split ways because things didn’t work out between the Rossoneri, moving him to Nottingham Forest.
That was it from the Series A club’s perspective. Given the comparatively cheap cost of €4.5 million that Nottingham Forest agreed to, it was assumed that Steve Cooper’s team would use it.
The 28-year-old hasn’t gained much notoriety since rejoining the Premier League, though. He has only played 58 minutes in four games thus far, and it is expected that Nottingham Forest will back out of the agreement.
Milan, who offered Origi a four-year contract worth €4 million each season after taxes, is faced with “a big problem” according to the Calciomercato source.
The dismal performance with Nottingham Forest thus far will not help draw in other suitors.
