Nottingham Forest old boy pays tribute to Steve Cooper

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper is tipped to go down as a ‘club legend’ regardless of whether he loses his job at the City Ground

Former Nottingham Forest defender Alan Rogers believes head coach Steve Cooper will face “the unavoidable.”

Cooper is under great pressure following the Reds’ 5-0 defeat to Fulham on Wednesday evening. There is speculation that the Forest manager may be given at least one more game to save his job, but uncertainty remains.

Rogers has paid a heartfelt tribute to the Forest boss, looking back on what he achieved and hoping that he will stay. Regardless, Rogers believes Cooper will go down as a club legend.

“I feel the inevitable will happen for Steve Cooper but let’s not forget what this man’s done for Nottingham Forest,” Rogers said in an article for X. “It’s incredible, and he will go down as a club legend in my opinion.” Forest has been out of the Premier League for 23 years,

“This man took over the club at rock bottom in the pits and lifted the whole city with him. And what he achieved surpassed what every single manager has done since Harry Bassett.

“Stevie Cooper I hope you can see this out but if not, thank you for putting an incredible football club and a incredible city back on the map.

Between 1997 and 2001, and 2004 and 2006, Rogers made 182 appearances for Forest, including a short loan before his second permanent stint.
