Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis talks about club portfolio

The Greek businessman is set to be introduced to club members at Portuguese outfit Rio Ave later today.

Forest chief Marinakis has outlined his intentions to invest in the club and he will meet the members in an extraordinary assembly.

Alexandrina Cruz will be presenting the project later today and afterwards, the members will vote on whether Marinakis will be accepted.

Marinakis to increase portfolio

This is certainly an interesting one. The report comes from Record who have detailed what will happen later today.

Marinakis has been looking for a new club to invest in for some time. He was looking to put some money into Monza but nothing came of that.

It’s claimed in the report that Forest owner Marinakis has left a good impression on the powers that be at Rio Ave.

If he’s successful he won’t be the owner of the club. Instead, Marinakis would be an investor who’d follow the club closely.

Portuguese football has been in the sights of Marinakis for some time and the Forest owner now looks set to see his wish granted.

Forest could benefit from Marinakis plan

This would see Marinakis involved with Forest, Olympiacos and a new club in the Portuguese top flight.

The Reds have utilised the South American market a lot of late and Rio Ave could actually help with that.

If players aren’t quite ready for English football, they occasionally head to Portugal first and Marinakis might look to adapt that if he gets the nod.

With Marinakis involved with Rio Ave, it would also give Forest more flexibility over offloading players.

Forest have enjoyed a healthy relationship with Olympiacos in that sense and having another club part of the Marinakis portfolio would hardly be a bad thing.
