The Brazilian media now claims that Atlético Mineiro has given up on signing Gustavo Scarpa from Nottingham Forest, despite all the changes we’ve seen this week.
Goal Brasil and Radio Italia both report that the Galo chose “not to advance” in the negotiations to sign the midfield player in January.
Scarpa will reportedly finish his loan at Olympiakos until the conclusion of the campaign, and Nottingham Forest will not reportedly hold negotiations for him in January, according to information provided to Atlético.
It sounds like it was a denial from Europe because those were the same sites who said the Brazilian team was planning an offer for the transfer.
Scarpa has told them he want to continue at Olympiakos, so it appears he wants to give European football one more shot at success before thinking about returning to South America.
The midfield player’s contract with Nottingham Forest expires in2026, so we’ll see if it opens up any fresh opportunities at the City Ground or if he needs to renegotiate at the conclusion.
It’s said that Atlético were informed that Scarpa will fulfil his loan at Olympiakos until the end of the season, and Nottingham Forest will not negotiate him in January.
Those were the same outlets who claimed that the Brazilian club were preparing an offer for the transfer, so it sounds like it was a denial from Europe.
With Scarpa telling them he’s staying at Olympiakos, it pretty much looks like he wants to have one more chance to succeed in European football before considering a comeback to South America.
The midfielder has a contract with Nottingham Forest until 2026, so we’ll see whether that will result in a potential new opportunity at the City Ground, or if he’ll get negotiated once again at the end of the season.
