Steve Cooper explained the reason for dropping Matt Turner

Steve Cooper, the manager of Nottingham Forest, has defended his choice to bench Matt Turner for Aston Villa’s visit.

Turner had started each of the first ten Premier League games of the season, but last weekend’s blunder that led to Liverpool’s third goal forced the American international to substitute. Cooper tells Sky Sports it was ‘the correct moment’ for a change, giving Odysseas Vlachodimos his chance.

“It seemed like the ideal moment. We feel that this is the proper move to make since we are happy with Matt Turner and have a good goalkeeping department in addition to guys vying for positions,” the man stated.

“Well, I called fairly early in the week, and when I talked to Matt about it, he was understanding. We also want to collaborate with him on a few other things. We’re dedicated to it, therefore we’re helping Odysseas (Vlachodimos) in his first game right now.”

Despite persistent injury worries, Taiwo Awoniyi’s inclusion in the starting lineup will please Cooper.”His fitness for today is not the only consideration. He’s undoubtedly in a position where he needs to control some aspects of his physique, according to Cooper. “As far as we know, it has held him out of a few games lately. However, he is feeling well right now and is eager to try it out. Hopefully, his physical condition won’t interfere with the game.”
