Will the Hammers finally end a terrible run of results this weekend by starting a forest fire at the City Ground? Having lost their last eight Premier League or Cup games, the East Midlanders find themselves in a similar situation as us. We might be fighting for relegation at this time of year, but happily we are in eighth place.
Those who watched Forest’s match against Newcastle might feel sorry for themselves after losing 3-2. They were deserving of a draw because they were occasionally fast and agile. They performed well against Arsenal as well, losing 1-2 to our 0–6. To be fair, they fired their previous manager, Steve Cooper, and it hasn’t gone well for them; Nuno Espirito Santo, the former manager of Wolves and Spurs, hasn’t had an easy time since moving to the City Ground.
Though they are not a very good team, their ability to create opportunities through open play and their three goals against Arsenal and Newcastle give you an idea of the kind of threat they can pose. Not to be taken lightly.
With Lucas Paqueta out of the picture, the Hammers appear to be a struggling team, so they won’t find this to be an easy task. Following the humiliation at the hands of Arsenal, confidence will probably not be high, and we should expect to see many of the same faces in the lineup. We need a victory now just as much as we did during our depressing days of fighting relegation.
Shall we start the forest fire there? Considering what we have recently witnessed, I have serious doubts, but I’m crossing everything with a draw my more likely conclusion, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I lost, so tragically.
