3 Notts County players Ready to move on

There have been many highs and lows in Notts County’s first season back in the Football League. After shooting to the top of League Two early in the season, they found their aspirations somewhat stalled with the departure of manager Luke Williams, and they currently occupy the middle of the table.

After making their comeback to the Football League, Notts County has experienced highs and lows this season, but they will be looking to close at Meadow Lane with a win.

In the early part of the season, Notts County stormed to the top of League Two. They were six points out of the play-offs in 13th place in the table, but a decline in performance and the departure of manager Luke Williams somewhat slowed their aspirations.

After a dismal run of results prior, the Magpies defeated Bradford City 3-0 on the road in their most recent match, providing them with a last-ditch chance at a play-off berth.

Many players in the Notts team have adapted well to life in League Two; several in particular appear to have the potential to advance past the fourth division. The following three Magpies players have the potential to soon move up to League One:

Macaulay Langstaff

Since joining from Gateshead last season, Langstaff has been a revelation for the East Midlands team and is highly sought-after at Meadow Lane.

The 27-year-old has scored 25 goals and contributed four assists in all competitions this season after setting a record in the National League with 41 goals and six assists. This summer, he’ll be a wanted man once more.

Alassana Jatta

Jatta may not have been a Magpies player for long, but after making a great impression on Maynard’s team, the winter acquisition appears to be the real deal.

The 25-year-old, who left Viborg FF at the end of the most recent transfer window to join Notts County, has started to find his form after contributing one assist and three goals in his last two games. The Gambian forward is already popular with the Magpies supporters, so if he keeps up his current form, moving up to the third division shouldn’t pose any problems for him.

Lewis Macari

After a successful loan from Championship team Stoke City, Macari became a permanent member of Maynard’s squad this season.

The Magpies have found a natural fit in the 22-year-old right-back, and fans were overjoyed to learn that they had managed to sign him on a permanent basis. The young player might be promoted to League One with his new team in the upcoming seasons, but if not, it wouldn’t be shocking to see a third-tier team pick him up soon.
