Notts County are preparing for their first full season under the guidance of Stuart Maynard.
Notts County were promoted from the National League in 2023 along with Wrexham and finished in 14th in the League Two last term. They had the worst defensive record in the division and will want to tighten up their defence.
The Magpies have dug into the market to bring in Jacob Bedeau, Matty Platt and Rod McDonald to boost their options at the back from Morecambe, Bradford City and Harrogate Town respectively.
Alex Bass, Nick Tsaroulla and Curtis Edwards have also arrived at Meadow Lane as they attempt to challenge at the top end of the league.
Meanwhile, Aden Baldwin, Geraldo Bajrami, John Bostock and Richard Brindley have also departed the club on free transfers to clear up space and cash in their roster.
Here are three potential additions they could make this month.
Sunderland goalkeeper arrives
Notts County have been linked with a loan swoop for Sunderland goalkeeper Matty Young. According to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon, they are admirers of the prospect.
The Black Cats think highly of the 17-year-old, who would get valuable experience by spending a season away in the Football League. In order to further his development, he spent time in the National League North during the previous season with Darlington.
Defender joins
The Magpies are reportedly interested in signing Gateshead defender Kenton Richardson, according to an HITC report. However, Sunderland, Derby County, Barnsley, and Peterborough United have all been named as possible bidders, so they are not the only team in the running.
With his current contract expiring, 25-year-old Richardson will have to make a significant choice as a free agent. Maynard might view him as someone who could improve his position at right back.
