The force said the woman and teenager travelling in one of the vehicles died at the scene.
A man has been arrested following a crash in Oldham which killed a 42-year-old woman and a 15-year-old child.
Another child, 13, suffered serious injuries from the collision and was taken to hospital.
Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, reports of the disturbance near Ripponden Road prompted the call for officers.
The woman and adolescent passenger in one of the cars, according to the force, passed away at the site.
The only occupant of the second car, which was described as a BMW X5, was a 35-year-old guy who was taken into custody right away.
He’s still being held for interrogation, according to the police.
Anyone with dashcam, smartphone, CCTV or doorbell footage from the area is being urged by the police to come forward.
