The child, whose age has not been confirmed, is not thought to have suffered life-changing or life-threatening injuries in the collision. It is understood they ran out into the road moments before being struck by the vehicle.
A member of staff working nearby said there were ‘lots of police’ at the scene and that people from the venue beside the crash scene came ‘running out to see what was going on’.
The road was cordoned off for an hour with two ambulance vehicles and a number of police cars and vans in attendance. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The police tape blocked the road in both directions, as a car was seen parked up along the pavement after the incident with a number of onlookers rushing to help.
