Police issue witness appeal after bus driver assault in Oldham town centre

Greater Manchester Police’s Transport Unit are appealing for witnesses after an assault that occurred in Oldham town centre.

The incident occurred on Monday June , 2024 at 10.38am.

Through initial enquiries, police officers believe that a bus driver was hit over the head with a weapon while stationary on St Mary’s Way in Oldham, next to Tommyfield Market.

GMP have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak with as he may be able to help with officers’ enquiries.

Officers encourage anyone with information, specifically around the identity of the man in the image above, to contact GMP on 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 quoting log 950 05/06/24.

Meanwhile, while on patrol in the Waterhead and St James’ area, PCSOs Sally, Joanna and Rachel sighted a vehicle (above) that was suspected to have been used in comitting fly-tipping offences in the Greenacres area and possibly other areas of Oldham.

Oldham council officials are now investigating.
