Man charged with murder over death of mum

A man has been charged with the murder of an Oldham mum who was stabbed to death while taking her five-month-old baby for a stroll.

Detectives investigating the death of Kulsuma Akter in Bradford city centre on Saturday  have charged Habibur Masum with her murder.

The 25-year-old, currently of Leamington Avenue in Burnley, was charged last night (September 13) with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court today (Saturday , 14 September).

As Kulsuma Akter pushed her infant in a stroller through Bradford’s Westgate neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, she was fatally stabbed in the neck.

around the intersection of Drewton Road and Westgate around 3:20 p.m., the 27-year-old mother was wheeling her infant in a stroller when the attack occurred.

Ms. Akter suffered many stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital after being fatally stabbed in the neck.

After a four-day hunt, Masum was apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, 170 miles from the scene of the incident together with four other guys.

The males, who are from the West Midlands area and are ages 23, 26, 28, and 29, were detained after being suspected of drug offenses and aiding an offender.

The BBC has been informed by Ms. Akter’s cousin Aftab Miah that her mother, who resides in Bangladesh, has been “constantly crying”.

“She was very caring, humble, and had a good personality,” he remarked. People used to laugh at her. She was an amazing woman.

“Her mother in Bangladesh weeps all the time. She didn’t stop crying during our many conversations yesterday, and all the time mentioning her name.”
