Tributes paid to young man who died in Oldham crash

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), they were alerted to a crash involving three cars on Greenacres Road at approximately 11:41 p.m.

According to police, the car overturned after it collided with two stationary vehicles while it was in motion.

A man in his 20s was declared dead at the site despite the best efforts of emergency personnel that were called.
The Oldham Times was notified on Friday, August 31, by a representative of Rochdale Coroner’s Court that their office had received a file under the name Atif Zaheer.

Two men, both in their 20s, have been taken into custody on charges of driving dangerously and causing death.

Many individuals have honoured Mr. Zaheer on social media in the wake of the tragic tragedy.

One person wrote on Facebook: “So sad another young life taken to soon thinking of all the family.”

Another commenter described Mr Zaheer as a “true gentleman” and offered their “deepest condolences” to his family.

One person wrote: “So young this is very sad.”

Mr Zaheer was also described as “such a pleasant young man with good manners and always smiling”.

They added that he would be “dearly missed”.

In a statement, Detective Constable Alex Giblin, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life, and our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.

“They will be supported by specially trained officers at this distressing time.

“We are working tirelessly to get answers for them, but I urge anyone who has any information, or who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward and help with our enquiries.

“This could be an eyewitness account from the scene, doorbell footage, CCTV or dashcam footage. It can all be used to help us establish how a young man lost his life in such distressing circumstances.
