Another bad injury report for Orlando Magic as fan favorite to undergo surgery

WENDELL CARTER JR., THE MAGIC CENTER, WILL UNDERGO SURGERY

Wendell Carter Jr., the center for the Orlando Magic, will likely miss three weeks of play following surgery to fix a fractured finger, the team announced on Saturday. This is due to the fact that Carter’s recuperation status won’t be reviewed for another three weeks.

In the final seconds of Thursday night’s 113-115 Orlando Magic victory over the Utah Jazz, Carter stumbled and hurt his left hand trying to go for a rebound. As a result, he hurt his third metacarpal.

Carter, who has played in the NBA for six seasons, is averaging 9.4 points and 8.6 rebounds this year. In the starting lineup for Saturday’s 120-101 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, Goga Bitadze took his place. In addition to Carter, Magic will have to wait for Markelle Fultz and Gary Harris to return from their respective groin and knee injuries.
