Oxford United make move for Chelsea ‘keeper tails in progress:

Oxford United are eyeing up a loan deal for Chelsea’s Jamie Cumming after losing James Beadle, reporter Alan Nixon has said has patreon

Brighton’s decision to return Beadle from his time with the League One team came as a blow to Oxford United. The 19-year-old was able to advance to Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship as a result of the decision, adding further competition for

Throughout the first part of the season, he started as the U’s starting goalie and had nine clean sheets in 28 games. Currently, however, the candidates for third-tier promotions are left with no option except to look for a substitute.

New connections have surfaced quickly; reporter Nixon announced on his patreon

that Chelsea’s Jamie Cumming is wanted.

The 24-year-old, who stayed at Stamford Bridge during the summer, is eager to play in the second half of the campaign. He may accomplish that on a loan, and it appears Oxford United wants to give him the opportunity to make an impression outside of West London once more.

EFL experience

Although Cumming started his whole career in Chelsea’s junior system, he has a ton of senior experience playing in the EFL outside of the club. Oxford United wouldn’t be getting a raw, inexperienced, and unproven goalkeeper because he has played 89 times in League One and has had stints with Stevenage, Gillingham, and MK Dons.

By season’s end, the shot-stopper, who was born in Winchester, will also be without a contract. Since Cumming isn’t part of Chelsea’s senior roster, this is a fantastic opportunity for him to make a splash before he could be allowed to leave for free in the summer.

It could also mean that a successful loan puts him in with a chance of a permanent stay with Des Buckingham’s side. Time will tell if the U’s interest develops into anything serious, but it looks like a deal is there to be done this winter.
